Well that escalated quickly.

Oh. Okay? Holy info dump and suggestive tactics.

Story is moving along nicely. Characters are just a tad bit flat, plot is just a tad bit convenient.

Rather enjoying this book. The diversity feels slightly forced, but whatever.

If there isn’t a handbook for would-be heroes, there ought to be. And in the chapter on hand-to-hand (or in this case, staff-to-paw) combat with refugees from Where the Wild Things Are, the following tip should be included: Never let yourself get distracted by yelling at the damsel in distress until the distress is dispatched.

It's really awful when you suddenly lose interest in a story. :(

I was flying through this book at first, but there's been major slowdown in the past couple of chapters and now I'm like meh. Also, so much of the dialogue seems contrived.

Fairies always give me the creeps.

The most unbelievable part about this so far is that the guy was admitted to the hospital without insurance.

I'm not a big fan of describing the main character's skin color with a comparison to coffee. I'm a bit sensitive to it right now since I just read an article on the Writing with Color tumblr. I'm also finding that I kind of have to force myself through it I'm not really being drawn in as much as I would like.
