'Zach nodded. "I talked with Detective Murphy. Told him I'd fax my report to them."'
Fax? This was written in 2013, why is he faxing anything? Did sheriff stations in the South not have access to email five years ago? Surely they weren't that backward?

'Swallowing bile, she waited until he pulled away. Then, surging to her feet, she whirled and slammed the rock into the side of his head. He went down, but she wasted no time checking to see what kind of damage she'd done.'
It's so annoying when victims either don't check to see if they've really killed the killer and/or fail to collect their weapons in order to then kill them some more, just in case.

'"Okay, everyone," Zach said. "Let's end this meeting with the acknowledgement that we still have no real clue who we're looking for & why."'
Then you're not very good members of the criminal justice system (there's a sheriff, a prosecutor, & a police officer involved in this investigation). At the very start you said it must be someone new to town & there's only 1 person who fits that bill - Blaine Marshall.

"Have a seat. You sure you wouldn't care for some refreshments?"
And she was acting like the cool, polite hostess.
He shook his head at her offer. What he wanted was to break the ice she seemed determined to surround herself with.
Because of that he was deliberately blunt. "Are you ready to stop acting like a child & talk to me?"
She's acting the complete opposite of a child, a child would be screaming at him.

'Even though it was now dark as pitch, both her clothes and her shoes were made of reflective material and she was completely off the road. She was perfectly safe (from being run over).'
Even if this wasn't a romantic suspense with a killer on the loose she's not even close to being "perfectly safe", otherwise there'd be virtually no road trauma - being visible doesn't equal safety on the roads these days.

'Tonight, she was putting all of that aside. If her looks and sex appeal could sway Quinn and get him to listen to her, then she would use them.'
Ugh! How is it she doesn't know that using her looks to seduce a man she's in a serious relationship with into forgiving her is a bad idea? Maybe if he was just a one night stand or on-off boyfriend, but not someone she wants something serious with. Facepalm!
