I love this book in ways I don't remember loving anything ever before. And maybe I have, but it happens so infrequently as to be particularly noteworthy when it does. I'm glad. It's such a wonderful feeling. I hope it lasts.

I know that to feel it again after this I'll have to spend at least a few weeks engaging in mediocre entertainment, so when that next rare gem comes along my heart is ready to fill again.

Just a few paragraphs in and I'm already so happy to be here. I've read and reject 3 different books in the last 2 days because the writing and subject matter just was not holding my attention.

It seems to be a universal truth for me that the certain British turns of phrase and emotional atmosphere is just the thing that will always work for me. Isn't that interesting.
