Status Updates From The Burn Zone (Haan, #1)

HOLY SHIT! THERE IS SO MUCH GOING ON!

Good suspense and action in this part of the story. Double crosses and some rather gruesome depictions of cannibalism abound as well as some sex mentioned.

Story has really picked up pace. I guessed correctly who Nix was before Sam figured it out. Good suspense at this point with time dwindling until the Burn starts. Nice twist reveal at this point too, but I wonder how exactly the current Haan queen managed to get it on Sam since the Queen has tried to kill Sam several times.

I have read several of this author's books and have enjoyed them all - so far. This book started a little slower and it took a while for the story to settle - too much backstory at the beginning which might lose some readers. I found myself flipping back a few pages several times trying to understand what was going on.

This book is like: "your dystopian SF could go harder, hear me out: brood parasitism"

Okay, I've only just realised this isn't a YA but a sci fi for more older people. So I'm hoping there's no unnecessary drama and romance
