Tears shimmered in her eyes. He knew she wasn't crying to make herself more attractive to him, but that was the result just the same.

Gross.

Laurel had gone over this with him last Sunday. Which was the last time he'd seen her, he realized, kind of surprised. How had an entire week gone by without them getting together?

You're such a piece of shit.

Laurel agreed, not sure if she should laugh or cry. Basically Olive had just overridden her on every single decision to do with the wedding, while Corb obliviously watched it happen.

Was this what the rest of her life was going to be like?

Or would Corb EVER pick her side over his mother's?

Well, shit.

MIL from hell and husband who is a mama's boy. Terrible combination. This poor woman.

This guy just says the most boneheaded things sometimes. And hurts the heroine.

"You didn't have to do this. I could have driven myself."

But she thought it was a good sign that he'd insisted. She liked the idea of marrying someone who was thoughtful. A streak of gallantry went a long way in smoothing out the bumps of any relationship, she figured.

"You know what we should do?"

She nodded, imagining him taking her hand and leading her up the stairs to the loft, much like he'd done two months ago. She'd go more than willingly, remembering what a sweet and passionate lover this cowboy had been.

"We should get married," he said.

LOL LOL :D

"Why don't you go home to your ranch and ride a horse or something."

They are fighting, but this was just too funny not to share.

KISSING

"Well, then. That leaves only one alternative. You're going to have a baby, Laurel. Just like me. We can be single mothers together. We'll be like a same-sex couple except for the sex part."

This is such a best-friend thing to say.

Well, he compared her to a dog and also praised her with "good girl" so I'm angry with him right now.

AMNESIA

It's probably too early to say I'm frustrated with these characters. I had a moment of frustration early on, but it was sorta fixed. The really good thing is that this book is short, so I don't have to deal with that for long before it's resolved.

2.) this is a harlequin book
3.) there's a heavy baby plot

I've really never read a book that included any of the aforementioned list. Here's hoping that I'll be awed, if not shocked.
