Also, dude was an asshole to interpreters. I agree that ad hoc interpreters stink, but he says,

"Interpreters who are medically trained are often the most misleading of all because they try to interpret what you and the patient are saying, instead of just translating it."

That's why they're called interpreters! Language is not solved by a proof. It is an art, same as you claim diagnosis is.

Dude is starting to piss me off. In the intro, about pronouns:

"When I started to write it I found that constant repetitions of 'him or her' seemed obsessive. I then tried to alternate references to the sexes, but in the end I decided that this was a more sexist approach than to refer to everyone as 'him'."

Wait, what? WHY? A 30 year old book gets some leeway, but I do not get the reasoning.
