Status Updates From Possessed

Emma’s rigid mind got a little annoying, but the diction, the way the story pulls you along mimics the hypnotism of what Emma feels. I could see Emma ending up in a couple of ways. The ending feels like I was wrong until the very very end, when I was and wasn’t. Verbalizing the very last was the only way to appreciate the why. I often skip verbalizing or just superficially but this book demands more.

The story draws you in slowly like a frog in boiling water. I don’t feel haunted by it, yet cannot stop reading. I have now as only so much cognitive energy. I’m trying to remember to verbalize but not doing well as didn’t remember a crucial detail. Went back, found it, recognized it quickly. Emma’s doubt is starting to pall, though.

Back when I won this book in a set from Crime Vault in 2013, I was unable to read it after I’d “read” the first 5 thrillers. Now I’ve begun reading the other half of the 10 in their giveaway. You’re Next was first. This is the second of 5. Nicely designed with lots of white space even if it does make the book heavy to hold. I don’t know why Emma likes Sophie. Valentine doesn’t make it clear. VV is hard.
