These chapters are mini-essays by various members of Wheaton’s faculty on facets of a liberal arts education. As such, this is an easy book to digest in very small bites (or wander away from for a few months…). I just finished a chapter by Alan Jacobs, “How to Read a Book,” which was a great 9-page encapsulation of Reading in an Age of Distraction.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, especially considering that it’s written by multiple authors, but so far, I’m thrilled with it. Allen Jacob’s essay on “How to Read a Book” is probably the best concise guide I’ve read on the topic, and several other authors have offered cogent, compelling arguments for liberal learning. I recommend!
