A soaring view of an orderly, streamlined future that never came, existing only in black-and-white photos. In full colour, we watch it change as we change. We look out over the city's fits and starts and are immersed within passing storms, wondering what will happen next.

a gift from my daughter this father's day. since it is kind to mies, 'modern' architecture, large scale urban planning and revitilization, and many other unpopular 'failed' efforts of the '60s in the U.S. - it should be read by those who blame those projects carte-blanche for their effort at trying to help bring society into the future - and by those of us that have always been supporters of modernism.

Very interesting, deeply personal presentations of life in Mies van der Rohe's little known but extremely successful Lafayette Park modernist, mixed-income housing development in Detroit. Fascinating with vintage and contemporary images.
