disneys is pretty similar so far. the contrasts come into play at aladdin’s context and how he came to know the princess. aladdin has his mother in the story versus being an orphan in the movie. aladdin also asks for the princess’s hand as himself, presented by his mother, rather than presenting himself as prince ali baba (which is funny considering i just read ali baba and the forty thieves)
