why am I still reading this?

I'm sick of being told what song starts playing as Scott is doing something or watching something or....whatever. It doesn't add anything to the story. I'm just finding it distracting.

A thesaurus would apparently be a good gift to give this author as he/she has a bad habit of using the same not-overly-common verbs multiple times in a short span. Example: Scott "perused" a kiosk for which restaurant to eat in and Gwen then "perused" the menu only a few sentences later.

Proofreading should've caught pages 5-6: "...dirt road that led from the main road and *preceded* further back into the trees..." Ironically, four sentences later: "The shoreline *proceeded* into a small inlet..." Not enough of a problem for me that I quit reading but certainly caused a raised eyebrow.
