Meh.

Now trying the audio book. The narrator sounds much less bubbly than the one for Stray, perhaps reflecting how Maddie’s temperament differs from Cassandra’s.

Another one long in my TBR, rather dark with an appropriately high body count for an apocalypse. Shades of Clay's Ark in the uncanny physical transformation that grants unexpected powers and strange hunger and will probably have unexpected consequences.

Though originally stalled, I've managed to pick the book back up and can't say I regret it. While a bit on the slow side (which is what made me drop it originally) everything else just seem pretty compelling. The characters are the big draw in this one, though the story itself seems a very interesting take on the usual alien invasion trope, and I very much look forward to see how it'll develop
