Guess what, Neryn changed her mind about Flint! She is at it, yet again! So indecisive. It's annoying. Girl! Pick a side, for goodness' sake! One moment she's like, "He's an enemy, I can't trust him after what he'd done! Go away" and then she's thinking, "Oh poor him, what a burden he carries, I feel safe with him". You can't see it right now, but I'm rolling my eyes. And I do that every single time she acts as such.

Ha! Boom again! What did I say? Flint is indeed a mind-mender! I saw it coming from miles away. I mean, of course his canny gift would be the one Neryn hates. She was getting too cozy, too comfortable with him so such move was called for. And I get why she is so repulsed by it, but all he asked of her was to at least let him finish talking! Her granny literary told her that his kind was good if used without evil!

I'm so confused. Flint is... a contradiction. He seems to be at war with himself, so maybe scrap my previous note? I honestly don't know... But hey, at least Neryn kept her mouth shut about her gifts! That girl is smitten, that's for sure. She might not realize it yet, but she is. As for the plot, he is going away for a day, so I'm guessing the danger might happen when he's gone? Or perhaps that's why he's leaving?

I think Neryn is becoming a little too cozy with Flint. Seriously, girl, get it together! This man is your enemy for all you know, don't trust him just for his pretty face and nice words! Honestly, the small folk are your allies, listen to them! They clearly warned her "Danger, peril". Now, if they meant Flint or upcoming troube, I do not know. But she should be wary nonetheless! It's on her, if he betrays her trust.

Okay, so Flint might not be on the bad side, but why else would he be writing letters to the king? If it's him, anyway. Though all points to Flint being Owen, the writer of those letters, since the contents are describing their situation. Could he have a secret agenta? Perhaps he, too, is a canny person and wants to stop the king. I admit, it crossed my mind that he might even be an Enthraller, but it seems unlikely.

Boom! I knew it! Flint is an Enforcer and probably a high-ranking one for that matter! Oh I love to be right! How fun it is to predict those things

Our girl Neryn is a special snowflake, who would have thought? Sarcasm, obviously. Of course she's the chosen one, the future savior of than land. So powerful, but she has no idea of her abilities. I mean, come on... Story as old as time. I'm guessing trials, sorrows, betrayals and all sorts of that. I'm not complaining, mind you. I just like to yap.
P.S. mark my words, Flint is in cahoots with evil king or something

Strong start! The concept of Good Folk and canny people reminds me of this author's other work, Blackthorn & Grim series. Not a bad thing! Now, about the plot. I have a feeling that this Flint is actually in the service of the King. Perhaps the one who sent the letter? And that's how he knew of the Cull and why he saved the girl. She's a weapon. My other thought was him being relative of the king, but it's unlikely.
