Status Updates From Black Beauty

Hit the point where I always used to quit, every time I tried to read it as a kid. Now realising it probably wasn't just the writing / the fact that there isn't much of a story. It would have been sooooo frightening and disturbing at that age. Two horses burning alive!! Why is this marketed as a children's book!? She definitely didn't write it as such.
