Status Updates From Orphan of the Olive Tree

Current easy read for those overnight hours of sick-baby-only-sleeps-on-shoulder.

Coincidentally, reading a novel set in 1280s Tuscany while tarrying the completion of a St Francis bio, reminds the reader that the valences of communal church life are rather underrepresented in this novel.

Very melodramatic not only in plot but in the style of writing, with two-dimensional stock characters and a formulaic premise. Much like The Comtessa's Vendetta, this is looking to be another soap opera in book form. But who am I kidding - I got this book because that's exactly the kind of thing I feel like reading right now!

The story line is interesting but I don't like the writing style at all. The phrases and words are too simple, it feels like a book for children, but the topics aren't (bc of the sex scenes). But I keep reading because I hope for a lot of drama between the kids of the two rivals, Felicia and Prudenza.

Yeah, I'm only here for the drama.
