i did absolutely forget the abuse, gang life and prison story lines
again why did my bigot cousin recommend this book to me when i was like 11

i remember the backyard scene between danny and liberty so so so vividly even though i read this book in 2012

there is a lot to say about this book and my cousin who is a bigot recommending it to me
1) it makes me mourn the version of her that could have been if she just stayed in school because it seemed to be getting the bigotry out of her
2) this god subplot that has been mentioned twice… maybe she was and will be a bigot always
