This girl was 14 years old. She was terrified Starkweather. And a whole mess of cops couldn’t find/stop him, why do people think a 14-year-old girl could have? He repeatedly threatened to kill her family, she thought they were still alive.

Here there is now a discussion of the reference of Betty Jean being caril’s stepsister versus half-sister, during caril’s trial. Makes the reference on pg 33 even more glaring.

The typos are distracting. Just some general editing things or a letter left off a word.

The author also just referred to Caril’s baby sister as her stepsister even though they were half sisters, because they shared the same mom.
