There you go - I did it!

Less than 20 pages to go, which means that I should be able to put this baby to bed tomorrow and find the book I really intended to read, which is about linguistics, rather than applied linguistics.

Hard wotk, yeah - buy what have I learned? That people are fascinated by language. A question: if a person reading a second language is translating into their first language then what are people reading their first language translating into. I mean - what's underneath language? I haven't found the answer to that in this book. I haven't even found that question here.

I'm interested in why this book is so hard to read and yet so interesting. Surely it can't be that I just like stretching my mind, can it?

Some chapters are more interesting to me.than others. Not sure whether that's because they are better expressed or genuinely of greater interest.

Why is Sunday such a busy day?

Talking is more interesting than studying talking. Sometimes.
