Trench foot is common among soldiers with wet feet. There's most likely multiple cases during any military operation, even today. I doubt humans stopped having sweaty feet in war zones when they learned to jump through interstellar space.

A dedication that includes "the Viet Cong, the ARVN, the wacky Diem clan...Robert McNamara, [and] William Westmoreland"?
