Status Updates From Door het grote vuur

—Solo quiero... —dijo Gaunt; Ellwood cerró los ojos— ser tu amigo».

This has been a bit of a slow burn, so sad how desensitised they are to the war around them and how losing your friends becomes the norm.

Roseveare […] les echó un vistazo a los chicos de la bañera.
—Qué cómodos se os ve ahí juntitos».

«—Pues a mí me gusta —opinó Ellwood conforme giraba la botella para mirar la etiqueta—. Lo mismo me doy a la bebida, como lord Byron. Hay peores hábitos.

—Lord Byron era un sodomita —dijo West con la actitud de alguien que comunica un secreto de Estado importante. Gaunt cerró los ojos—. Me lo contó mi padre».

HELP THIS BOOK IS MAKING ME LOSE MY MIND !! i care so much about these kids and when everyone is #dying in the war it doesn’t even get any better. im so invested and yet so real to how horrible it is while focusing on the nuances of the characters

A gay war book is simply superior

Gaunto easily my fav character. Also why is this book so frickin sad.

and another thing, why is everyone gay in that damn school and why didn’t I apply

The writing kind of makes it feel like nothing that is happening is of any consequence (which you could say is a statement about the devaluation of life during the first world war but I’m mainly talking about the main character’s relationship).
