All of a sudden I just don't care anything about the narrator.
The lead is a screw-up, the bad-guy is a screw-up, the femme-fatale is a screwed up screw-up... and on top of that, I'm pretty sure I know how it's going to end.
True- I'm 85% done with the novel, but still- this is Gil Brewer!
Maybe I'm jaded after reading Bourbon Street by G. H. Otis & One Endless Hour by Dan J. Marlowe.
