Status Updates From The Classic Horror Stories

So far "The Color out of Space" is one of the best sci-fi-horror stories I have ever encountered, and I learned that there is a Nicolas Cage movie based on it so it's gotta be in the running for the best story ever written

Normal people: "This place is weird, and the people in it are weird. Let's not ask them for directions."

Lovecraft: "One hesitates to ask directions from the gnarled, solitary figuries spied now and then on crumbling doorsteps or on the sloping, rock-strewn meadows. Those figures are so silent and furtive that one feels somehow confronted by forbidden things, with which it would be better to have nothing to do."

Read the 1st five short stories. The language used makes the stories pretty stodgy and has taken a while to get through. I really struggled with the 1st two but they did then become a bit easier and more enjoyable but not sure I’m appreciating the nuisances as intended.
