...funny how multiple editions use a concept of Nita and Kit framed from behind while facing an open door.

Meanwhile, why does Goodreads selectively suppress the ability to add multiple editions of the same book to your shelves? They made me "switch" my copies of SYWTBAW, didn't make me do so for "Deep Wizardry," but did make me do so for this one. Anyway, the edition I originally read was 9780440406808, the Dell Yearling where it looks like Kit has his hand on Nita's butt.

I enjoy watching Dairine wrong-footing across the universe, because she is mighty cocky. That said, I don't know why Kit thinks she's such a brat. She's not *his* sister.

It’s the kind of scene that would have dragged for me at the time, because I wasn’t into computers then, but I freaking loved Dairine booting up the wizard computer and how shocked she is at the size of the files, which are still only measured in kilobytes. Like when Nita’s parents were gaping at her in Book 2, when she was telling her manual to get dimmer or brighter. 1990, brave new world. ;)

So, unlike the first two books, I’ve only read this one once: a gift in this case, because my memories are 25+ years old. Strong on sequence and plot, but not already knowing what each character is going to say or everything that’s going to happen in a given scene.
