Status Updates From Okatibbee Creek

The book was okay. I dnt know that I would recommend it. It had a repeating theme of get married, have lots of children , children die + repeat. I couldn't even keep track of who was marrying who + how many children they lost after awhile. It started out really good + exciting then settled rt into that repeating sad theme. I liked the main character in the story , Mary but her never ending cheer was unrealistic.

So far so good.

I find myself really frustrated by this book. The "stars and bars" did not have 13 stars, just for a start; that was the "Southern Cross," the confederate battle flag. :-/ That didn't change until 1863. (I know, I'm picky.)

In which we see a wedding, where the groom wears "a waistcoat with tails ...". That would be quite a garment! The author appears to think that a waistcoat is a cutaway. Oh dear.

Lots of telling, not much showing ...
