Status Updates From The Demon of Cliffside

I've been reading a bunch of self-published fantasy books of late and the Demon of Cliffside is easily the pick of the bunch. A few tweaks and this could have been a 5 star read. As it was it was still a great book.

They had done nothing themselves to deserve that false hope. I had a sudden vision of them waiting, looking to the door night after night as they aged and died. I was too familiar with that kind of slow, uncertain misery to wish it upon anyone else.
"I won't be coming back," I said, turning to face them. "It is too dangerous, both for me and for you".

I'm liking this story a lot. It is only the second book I've read with my actual eyes in the last year, but it is definitely worth the effort. This has all the originality promised in the blurb and the demon protagonist is exactly as intriguing as I hoped it would be.

I'm in a weirdly restless phase and the result is that I cannot seem to stick with a book until I finish the thing. Starting this one means I now have 5 books on the go. I only meant to get a feel for this one by dipping my toes into the 4 page prologue, but that was enough to suck me into the story. I'm looking forward to this one as it seems like it will be both interesting and unusual:)
