So Lucas finally drinks her blood, we find out he’s done everything but rape her. Derek goes to kill him but Sophia stops him. Derek decides to let her and Ben go to protect her from Lucas, even though they know about The Shade, putting the vampire island at risk from the Hunters.

Sounds like Ben was tortured and SA’d, by previous mistress (Derek took him from her for Sophia) and by Lucas when visiting.

Well shit. Another mean lady vampire has Sophia’s best friend, Ben, who she was in love with but he didn’t return those feelings. Love triangle? Is he ok (probably not since he’s a slave now too). Btw, the word slave in books makes me cringe, I hate it.

Ok…maybe not her blood? More mental health? She had mentioned being diagnosed at home (foster parents?) with ADHD, then PTSD, then Bipolar. Now LLI - low latent inhibition.

Lucas attacked her during the night (physically but not sexually) and killed the other slave girl she had comforted (action that has drawn Derek’s attention in the first place). Threatened Sophia not to tell Derek.

She attempted escape, ran through woods and found border wall keeping The Shade protected and enclosed on the island. Cora the which spelled the island 500 years ago to hide them and have continuous night. He saved her from other vampires and said she was his and to not try to escape again. Brought her back to treehouse but hasn’t locked her in. Creepy Lucas still wants her.

He’s chosen her personally. After a year as a slave, their vampire owners get to decide what happens to them (so only kept 17-18 yo during their “peak”). This is getting gross quickly. Vampires being hunted and decimated in this world, the shade (?).

Yuck, where is this going? The dungeon imprisoned girls are cleaned up and are to be part of Derek “harem”. Do 17 yo sex slaves? If so, I’m out.

Vivian isn’t good, just wants her and all girls taken on these hunts to be for their older brother Derek, who is sleeping but meant to wake and rule.

Lucas is the vampire who took her, is bad guy. Sister Vivian knows who Sophia is and stops Lucas from drinking from her.

Audiobook only because of Zachary Webber. Female narrator is not good, I guess trying to sound young? Supposed to be 17, but just sounds winey. Taken from a beach after lamenting her best boy friend not liking her back.

Really, what exactly am i reading because this is close to horrible.
Why would you kiss your kidnapper's hand when, well...he is your KIDNAPPER? (even if he treats you right).. i really hope this gets better
