Young Life’s Message
* The reason we have beautiful & well equipped camps is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus in a setting that speaks well of him. You don’t put the greatest message in a brown paper bag.
* Young Life is a group of people committed to the idea of wining a hearing with kids for the greatest story ever told.
* Time with Jesus is the most important work in our ministry

Struggles to do Ministry
* We are engaged in a war. No spiller ever charged the enemy without very real fear and the feeling “I wish I didn’t have to do this.”
* Jesus struggled with the enemy with his time on earth.
* God is in control of all situations. He will provide for us (money, food, shelter) Trust in him. Romans 8:28
* May we view our trials as a cross and patiently await the resurrection.

Contact Work
All contact work is preparing the ground for a harvest . In doing these things , we are walking in wisdom ; we are win ning the right to be heard; and we are building the bridge of friendship . This whole business of contact ministry is so wonderfully Christlike in all its aspects. He Himself is our role model.
Jesus, with all confidence,sent me
“In His Stead”.

The quality of the ministry can never rise above the quality of the staff. The quality of the staff reflects the quality of the individuals time alone with his Savior… I saw more of Christ in Jim than I heard about Christ from him.
Set apart at least 30 mins simply read his word and talk to him. You are just spending time with the Lord Jesus.

“Young life is Jesus Christ and don’t you ever forget it… Thats not just what we are about, that is all we are about.”
- Jim Rayburn
John looks at Ephesians 1:23 and when it talks about how God, “fills the whole wide universe” and goes into the detail and design of life.
Believers “Must!” Spend time with the Lord in his word, that is how we are transformed!

When John arrives he jots down notes from the leadership seminar given by Jim, it included:
• Walk in Wisdom toward them that are without
• It’s a sin to bore a kid with the gospel;
• Earn the right to be heard,
• Assume our young audience does not know anything about the Christian faith.
Therefore always be in the posture of a teacher -never a preacher- there is a tremendous difference.

John came to know Christ and used his Friday night meetings with believers to help shape his teen ministry in D.C.
One night, Jim Rayburn came and shared a little about Young Life and all about Jesus. John was hooked, couldn’t stop thinking about Jim and his mission.
John learned that human obstacles exist only in our minds. & as God planned it, he was able to leave for Star Ranch, meeting other staff in PA!!

Jim at Trail West
Learning more about the Father of YL, he was a happy, giddy person up to the point of his death.
Jim talked as if going to Heaven was going to Chicago. A simple next step in his life. Jim would bring his joy that he received from the Lord to the doctors, adults, & kids.
