It’s not hard to guess that maybe Daphne isn’t as rich and well off as she seems. She was probably doing all the stealing, and that’s why she’s so worried! People got suspicious of all her constant borrowing, so she stole! And she sent the money off to her parents to hide the evidence.
Mary-Lou is the best.

Man, I feel so bad for poor Ellen! If only the other girls knew what was going on. But Ellen didn’t really read the papers, and Darrell screamed and shook poor Ellen, so both of them are in the wrong.

Oh, poor Ellen. I wish the book had pictures so I could see the drawings of the Mam’zelles!

The chalk prank was funny, I kinda sympathize with Alicia and Betty. I love Sally and Mary Lou.
Daphne is annoying but not as much so as Gwendoline. Or maybe the same amount.
Mary Loy is the best!
What’s up with Ellen?

Now that I know more about the girls and their personalities, the book is much more interesting. I am glad for all the character development. Sally (and Daffy!), and Darrell, and Mary-Lou. And even dear Gwendoline. I wonder if Daphne (school one) will be an important character?
A fun, light-hearted read.

1/3 done!
Technically, one book, but oh well. I’ll hit my reading goal eventually.

I’m glad Gwendoline got her comeuppance, but I’m also glad she had her character development. Sally is definitely my favorite character as of now, followed by Mary-Lou. The whole friendship with Alicia was weird to me, it’s not all or nothing! You can still be friends after one fight.
I have (technically) finished one Mallory Towers book. But since it’s 3-in-1, Goodreads doesn’t count it as three. Oh well.

Oh poor oblivious
Darrell. It’s really quite obvious that Sally resents her sister for sending her away from her mother. So she has tried to block her mother from her life.

I’m glad Gwendoline’s plan didn’t work (though it was clever)
Poor Mary Lou, she deserves better.
Girls, C O N T E X T C L U E S. OBVIOUSLY, SALLY DOESN’T LIKE HER NEW SISTER BECAUSE SHE HAS TO SHARE HER MOTHEF WITH HER SISTER. AND THAT’S WHY THE MOM’S NOT COMING!!!

It’s so funny to read this book! The silly British words and fun characters.
One thing, though, is the “scoldings”. Of course all the girls like Darrell and of course an adult should have been the one to scold Gwendoline, but the way they scolded Darrell for loosing her temper was silly.
The book reminds me of a Beverly Cleary book :)

Darrell is pretty one dimensional right now. I don’t know anything about her other than she wants friends but only certain people she will accept.
Alicia is definitely one of my favorite characters. I relate to her.
Gwendoline is a very amusing character. I look forward to reading her segments.
The teachers confuse me. I don’t know if I’m supposed to like them or resent them or what. They all blend into one.

Fun! Darrell is looking to be a fun protagonist. The book is written in an interesting style where within just one chapter, the pov switches between several characters. Well, not as much “switches” as “Slides”.
