The Fallen continues to be emotional, dark, and dreary. The overall theme of complete and utter hopelessness in this changed world continues strong throughout these chapters, especially with the deeply moving and emotional mourning of many losses and the intimidating creeping of insanity on one of the characters.

The Fallen continues to be an insanely thrilling novel. Throughout the entire series, bits of information have slowly chipped away at the mystery of the illness; however, even more mysteries take their place. There is so much that we do not know about this world, and Charlie Higson has clearly created this series with that in mind: full of intrigue, violence, and darkness.

I feel like I keep repeating this statement again and again: that Charlie Higson has done it again, has somehow managed to reach the darkest corners of his mind, and pulled out another horrible masterpiece. And yet he has. Higson has introduced a level of evil in this world that we haven't seen before. The amount of detail he keeps throughout the series is sickening, especially due to its already sickening nature.
