Status Updates From Vampire LA

The farther I get in this series the more I'm realizing that as much as I'm enjoying this tale, there is a lot missing.

Wow. Selah's in quite a pickle... I like this action packed sequel a lot better than the first book. Very quick and smart. Total enjoyment, but I need to go to sleep!

Oh no.... Cloud? *sigh*

I hope Selah didn't make a mistake. Taking lives without the full story... That's just bad. Just bad. I smell big big set-up. Why doesn't Selah get super smarts with her super strength?

Nice going so far BUT, this does not feel quite like YA. Certainly not the kind I'd let my teenager read. And I'm not talking about the violence. Really? I'm not naive but Selah is 17 and I'd rather not see my 17 year old heroines... well, you know?

They're almost in the Core. Its so difficult to trust anyone! Selah and Cloud's bravery? Unreal. Me? I think I'd just go with the whole turning into a vampire bit, but hey, maybe I'm a coward. That Blood Dust? That's crazy in a vial. Ooh!

Deus Ex Machina. A spiritual healer with a helicopter that gets them where they want to go? Awesome! and Unlikely. But I'll take it.

(I'm reading the omnibus but am reviewing each book separately.) So far off to a great start! Blood dust turns users into unnatural vampire-like creatures? Cool. So far I'm liking this stat better than Vampire Miami!

There's nothing better than an author who writes about the Southern California that isn't centered around Beverly Hills or Orange County. And even though this is a dystopian series, it's just refreshing that cities like Fontana, Chino and Pomona are front and center. Oh, and PoC are the leads. Just so cool.
