CHARACTERIZATION: In my book, Dash feels very real. He is a kid that seems very relatable with the things he says and does. He is kind of a trouble maker too. Also, the way he talks to people is very realistic. For example, when his friend Kira wants to go out onto the moon, he says, "I promise." I fully meant it. I just didn't think I'd have to." This seems like something a 12 year old would actually say or think.

CHARACTERIZATION: The first sentence in Space Case, said by Dashiell, is, "Let's get something straight, right off the bat: Everything the movies have taught you about space travel is garbage. [...] Life in outer space sucks. Trust me, I know." Throughout the entire beginning of the book, Dash goes on to describe how dull and isolating life on the moon is. It's clear that Dash feels anything but positive about it.
