I guess endnotes are cheaper to format than footnotes, but they are a pain in the neck and do not contribute to a good reading experience. It's pretty annoying to repeatedly turn to your second bookmark only to find a note like "14. Ibid," then one or both of your bookmarks falls out and you have to find your places again.

It's finally becoming clear to me that what was being tested wasn't obedience, but coercion. It's easy to be "disobedient," but resisting coercion takes practice, & the experience of being coerced can be traumatic.
