Status Updates From Texas Jack

I'm seeing so many positive reviews but not understanding where they are coming from. Really dull, shallow character development so far.

the last 20% or so went like nothing.

**note** I counted 78 name drops up to this point. Of those probably 60% were gratuitous and added nothing to the story.

The heart of the story has finally come to play...the turning point if you will. There have been some good points up to there, truisms about parenting. But mostly junk. Once the drama starts though...the book becomes infinitely better. I am caught up.

Name dropping is really distracting. Some paragraphs almost read as paid ads. Insane stereotypes although in high school honestly that's par for the course so I'll let it slide. Mr. My-Life-Is-Perfect gets a bit annoying.

So far so so. The name brand dropping is a bit annoying. Apple store, iPad, Land Rover, Modern Warfare. I get where sometimes it lends reality to the world but it's starting to feel a bit commercial-y.

A couple of laugh-out-loud moments in this so far. I'm enjoying it
