Racism vs race prejudice & discrimination
Authentic cross racial relationships and threats to trust for fear of being (accused of) racism
I just think everyone should read this

This book does a really good job of spelling out that:
- A POC’s definition of racism is different to a white Person’s definition of racism.
- The causes of the disparity in definitions are historical, geographical, political etc with direct socio-economic implications on both sides but are internalised and interpersonally perpetuated by people because of lots of concepts that I’m learning have actual names

Aversive racism: holding deep racial disdain but not being able to admit it because it conflicts with self image and self beliefs (including morality).
‘Race talk’
Inability to challenge the racism them perpetuates it.

The ‘backstage’ = ‘all white company’
The ‘frontstage’ = ‘where POCs present’

I love the questions that teach us about racial socialisation.
Also previously the ideas of individualism and objectivity were well explained to contextualise the book and how challenging it might be.
