Status Updates From Wrath of the Rain God

I wish that Emma and Martin had a little more depth, but maybe that's too nit-picky since this is a novella. I appreciated that this was a light read and I really enjoyed learning more about Mexican folklore.

I like how Emma and Martin's perspective on their new home changed after they spent time with Nelli who lived in a hut instead of a house.

I really liked the glossary and I learned a lot from it.

Manauia's quote reminds me of resilience.

"Our home is not a place," Manauia replied. "Home is our people, and our people are strong. It will take more than a destroyed village to bring us down." He smiled.

I love this dialogue and I agree with it completely. Home *IS* more than a place. A person or multiple people can be someone's home.

I'm guessing that the twins won't be sad and sulky for long since they're about to have a big adventure.

I appreciate how Emma and Martin's abuela told them that change can be good and that they'll adapt to living in Chicago. That was wise of her.

I enjoyed the first chapter and the use of Spanish. I knew most of the Spanish in the first chapter and the author translated some of it into English.
