Status Updates From Quality Candy

Finished. Verdict? It was okay. I think a large part of why I was disconnected from this narrative was because of the several summarizing passages that "told" the story rather than showing it. I would've appreciated the story so much more if it'd been taken with more resonance and character intimacy. Review to come.

To be honest, I think Shannon Stacey's "Undeniably Yours" handled some of the same themes and relationship matters with more development and resonance than this book. I want to feel for the characters, but the narrative in this is not allowing me to do that.

Come on Candy, you can't judge a guy based on what he was like with you when he was 16. Lest you commit the same folly that he does with judging you on how you were at that age.

I'm somewhat wading through words on this because there's a lot of narrative backtracking in this work, and it's not as intimate as it could be.

Steadily going. This is a short galley, but quite a bit of awkwardness ensuing. Candice (Candy) has to face a guy from her past as she's working her way up the corporate ladder. Self-attributed slut shaming on the heroine's part makes it even more awkward, but I'm reading forward to see where it goes.

The cover on this book is drop dead beautiful. I'm hoping the story turns out just as well. I'll probably read this, switch back to Another 365 Days, and then I have two other books that expire soon that I need to get to. Then I'll see about tackling "School Spirits" and the rest of "Being Me". Epic Marathon Reading Time!...I hope.

...at this point I feel like Elton John's Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word should be playing as Ryan tries to win Candy over. Ahh!

I love this book, it feels like a true story. I'm hoping for a HEA already.

First chapter has grabbed me, let's see where this goes...
