While I wish this book had more critical analysis than just demonstrating historical examples of afrofuturism in art, I’m learning so much.

This book was written during the Obama era, which puts a really interesting layer of hope and excitement to it. Curious to see how this will continue to affect the authors outlook.

Beginning of chapter 2 kind of blew my mind ngl. You study AA literature for years and suddenly someone writes "racism was an invention to justify slavery" and that's somehow a new idea to you that makes a hell of a lot of sense
