I’ve completed the novel proper, but my copy has like 100 pages of bonus content, with writings from sober Burroughs after writing that give a lot of context to the book. It’s interesting to note that this was not, in fact, fueled by heroin, but rather by his lack of it and the withdrawal symptoms he was experiencing. The last bit seems to be just outtakes, which I’ve never seen in a book before so that’s fun

The last several chapters have shifted focus heavily onto the drug use and providing backstory to a lot of what’s already happened - we learn about Benway making people into addicts; Bill’s old dealer acquaintance Fats’ transformation into a weird monstrosity; and Bill killing two cops before he went on the run in the first chapter - why did they want his writings?
