Status Updates From Abarat

Abarat is an aquatic world, made up of multiple Clive Barker original species, where the islands in this ocean wrld represent a specific notch on the 24hr clock system. Main character Candy makes it from Earth 2 Abarat and becomes stuck. Kindve hard 2 explain but it’s all made perfect sense. The details have all fallen in place. In a more edgy, non-religious standpoint, Abarat is vaguely similar to Narnia! Clive Barker Narnia haha, although comparisons are very opinionated, both Narnia and Abarat are worlds that only the authors could’ve conjured. I’m extremely enjoying the world building and character descriptions, very outlandishly exciting. I’m reading along with the audiobook, and all is moving forward in an orderly fashion 🫡

Ive returned back to Clive Barker, leaving the realm of Star Wars (for the time being) and delving into a uniquely crafted world of its own. In the last Clive book i read, one of my only “complaints” was that the Hellbound Heart was a little short for the descriptive world building Barker was doing for the Cenobytes. To my gleeful surprise, Abarat is a lot longer, more room for the descriptions to breathe!
