I get it’s a stylistic choice for the character’s narration, but I cannot get over some of the lines in this. It’s too silly.

This is PAINFUL for me to get through but I’m pushing on. Honestly, do these authors know how to use control + F ever?! They say the word “mate” probably 200x. Buy a thesaurus! These books are like literary fast fashion. The audio book actress sounds like an old lady rather than a 23 year old. Doesn’t help that the FMCs in this series talk like the Golden Girls. She sounds like Betty White’s doppelgänger.
