We get more information on the systems of their world (real gods, mechanical gods, their motives, making the world a better place by making people live / die). Even some of our characters have a history, like, the principal fought with Boichiro in the previous war against the demon king.

It was nice to see Junko find a bit of her purpose. Hope she's 100% on Akuto's side now. Even Brave understanding more now.

So, this volume is mostly battles. Not a whole lot of recap, so if it's been a while since you read, might want to glance back through some past volumes, especially 4. This one particularly concerns itself with side main characters, like Boichiro, Eiko, Brave (Hoshiro?), and the Student Council (Lily I think is the leader, and we learn about a wolf gal, a mecha member, and a bat tamer..?).

It has a while since I read them, in fact, I only read them when I was a kid, but this remembers me a lot of Harry Potter... like, a lot.

To begin with this story wasn't bad but at this point it's devolved in girls, panties and fanservice everywhere. It's not really my cup of tea but I guess I'll finish the volume at least.
