Holy shit that climax was… I don’t even know. It’s very rare to find stories that leave me in awe but this one did. More in my review, indie authors always get a review from me.

Wow these Counsel Lords are toothless worms. ‘Oh we’ll find another way, ignore the message given.’ God, I hope Aenguz sneaks out and gets the Dagba Stone.

So the Dagba Stone is beneath Corundum, and the Mono Lord intends to seal the Well of Sorrows… which is where the Dagba Stone is… I smell a stunt.

Ooo love the lore that’s being unveiled. So it seems Morgrom is some sort of primordial destroyer and being of darkness and despair. And the Ruinwasters are his dark progeny. I’m in loveeee

This world is so fascinating. The Oasis being some between place that was saved from the Ruinwaster’s destruction is interesting. And we’re learning more of Morgrom. Still trying to figure out what he is. Some opposite force of creation or something else? I love a good question

The Hyrrokkin are interesting. Stone golem type creatures by the sounds of it. And thought dead. But some persevere it seems.

The descriptions of the city of the Sho-Tah, wow. A ruinwasted city. Shudders. And now the party has been split. Great.

This departure to Corundum is giving Fellowship vibes. Obviously much more perilous and grim. But the same sort of beat. I love it.

And so the journey West begins.

This is grim in every sense of the word. No punches are withheld and death is around every corner. I wonder what Anguez will do now that he is free?

It amazes me that even in the face of annihilation, some will stick to division. Such is the nature of humanity. I’m glad Aenguz convinced Mandavu to see reason. Let’s hope they last the night.

This is grim. I will say the exposition is delivered tastefully, as far as what’s happening in other parts of the world. Where the Flayer’s hands are stretching. Seems the end tis near as he said.

Im honestly in awe. The prose is so vivid and crisp. And the descriptions. My god. The Akkeidii are so unique. Im not sure of their cultural influence but theres flavors of Norse and maybe Celtic. Regardless, they’re disparate and divided. Not a good thing to be, with the Flayer’s horde on their doorstep. We didnt know Ridder long but his death hurt. Onto more reading

This intro is very worldbuilding heavy which I enjoyed. Learning about the culture of the Akkeidii, the different Clans, the magical metal with a kickass name, montmorillionite. It’s got all the things I love. Definitely looking forward to digging my teeth into it more

Morgrom is giving me Dark One from WOT vibes. An evil sealed away but soon to be broken free. And Aenguz is chosen as his Last Emissary, which is a grim fate. I will say it did not take long for this book to get my attention. Bravo.

Well we’re off to a grim start. Aenguz’s father is dead and he maimed himself trying to use a lost art of his people. So, definitely not sunshine and rainbows
