I am loving this. He's quite a writer in addition to being a wonderful photographer. And there is humor thrown in for good measure. I wouldn't have expected the details of the Expedition's day to day life to be so fascinating, but Ponting's description makes it so.

Things I've loved about this book so far: Ponting's descriptions of the men singing sea chanties as they worked and the bit about Lillie's cetacean drawings pinned up on the wall. Never seen these things mentioned in any of the other books I've read about the Scott expedition!
