I feel bad calling the stories a waste of paper, that’s not really true.

I loved, “The Natural” and of course I’ve read “The Assistant” before so it was a pleasant re-read
However, the 20 short stories are killing me. Good grief Malamud was obsessed with failing grocery stores. It’s like he’s written the same story about 15 times now. He’s got a few interesting stories, and of course, “The Magic Barrel” is a classic, but I think some of these stories are wasted paper

Just finished "The Natural". Enjoyed it. I'll shelve the collection for a while and read another book soon.

Just finished re-reading The Assistant. I read this book close to 40 years ago and liked it then and loved it still. A brilliant novel, so human, so 'mensch'.
