Status Updates From Less Than Words Can Say

One chapter down and this book is already amazing

An amazing tonal piece on the terrible state of public schools that is actually more applicable for the modern day than it was in 1979.

There’s something undeniably true about this book. There’s always a discussion as to whether or not language controls thought or the other way around. People who deny the idea that language at least AFFECTS thought are siding against history. I’m not sure how one would argue that language does not affect thought.

“ to clarify our values means to make fine distinctions. To make fine distinctions means to see how different things are similar & how similar things are different. This calls for many finely tuned words and subtle grammatical devices & the ability to put them all together with precision.” (Continued…)
