buddy really likes halo and star wars. that comes across clear. myopic viewpoint of video games. doesn't actually seem to understand the medium, re: his astonishment that games have soundtracks (actually called this an aspect of convergence between film and v.games). some interesting tidbits here and there about second life and potential of training sims. otherwise, this is a 2.5-ish book. start in middle.

could use more style or something? kinda bland "hey look at me now i'm over here talking about e-sports" writing throughout. opines more than he writes.

weird fascination with people who rank high on bmi. if your whole shtick is to argue that gaming helps us get over superficial shit, maybe don't focus on peoples' bodies so much. just a suggestion

spends most of the first chapter telling the reader about how he played video games when he was younger. you like video games? I fucking hope so, considering you decided to write a book about them. now tell me something I don't know.

Although the notion of the prominence of video games in every day life is often put aside and deemed untrue, this book is written in a very engaging way that provides lots of insight including evidence as to why this notion is true.

The POV in this book constantly shifts from third to first person as the speaker attempts to narrate unfolding events while providing personal insight and experiences toward the subject as well.

The speaker conveys his thoughts through a tone of awe towards video games, which gives this book a biased point of view. So far, the speaker never actually discusses or even mentions the negativities of games. Instead, he continues to glorify them by speaking of how they are changing society for the better.

This book focuses on the impact of video games on the modern world and how they are becoming more prominent than ever in our every day lives.

Really good book for the general public about the impact of video games. Written in a very engaging way.
