This book is rich! Caryll Houselander's word choice is arrestingly tactile and vivid.

She made 2 intriguing observations:
1. Society does not value virginity, in part, because it only sees the example of the "foolish virgins" who don't have oil in their lamp and not the "wise virgins" who do. The oil being love + joy + zest of life.

2. Mary's vocation is the prototype for humanity's: to bear Christ into the world.

This book is so underhyped
