i’ve come to dislike meta commentary in poetry like calling attention to what you are doing but HMN does it so good

literally gasping clutching my pearls reading while walking my up and down my corporate office

“The opposite of touch is bleeding. The ocean swallows
all the colors, and will never stop
trying to get inside my body.”

This poem is feeding fat to the fire Hieu Minh Nguyen lit in my brain. And now I can’t close my eyes without his sharply drawn images poking holes through my head.
