34 pages in and I’m already surprised by how academic, intellectual, and carefully written it is Having seen the film, I find myself watching it play out almost shot for shot in my mind, but the novel immediately gives Chris MacNeil so much more depth, agency, and backstory as a mother, actor, and person. It’s fascinating seeing how much richer the characters and themes feel when given the space of the novel

Way more academic in prose and sentence structure then I ever expected.
