Tom didn’t want to sleep, if only so he could stare at Prophet’s face more, and marvel at how goddamned innocent the man looked when the peace of sleep overtook him. He wanted to stroke a cheekbone, a scar, to kiss him more. But he didn’t want to break any of this moment, either, so he settled for trying to memorize it while figuring out where the hell they’d go from here.

Before Tom could ask, Prophet had tied a thin leather bracelet around his wrist. Tied it, then hid it under another length of tape.
“What’s it for?”
“It’s for me,” was all Prophet would tell him as he walked out of the room, but Tom hadn’t noticed Prophet wearing it.

i hope that bracelet ends up having a bigger meaning for them in the future 🥹 like, it’ll be one of their things

been wanting to read this series for a while now and i found out one of my libby libraries has it (except for book 4, sadly) so i’m diving in. not planning on writing any reviews but i’m hoping i enjoy it!
